I thought it would be fun to look at all three Price's to see if you could tell which one was which. They look so much a like it is uncanny!

1st and 2nd Soccer Game

Aidan's first soccer game on Thursday was pretty rough. He just could not get into the swing of it, him not being the best. I'm not sure where that is coming from, but he didn't like it at all. However, his game on Saturday was much better. He didn't get upset quite as much, especially since I told him he wasn't going to the birthday party for our friend on base that afternoon, that got him in the mood to play!

Inspirational Movie

I had heard of the movie, "Something the Lord Made," but never watched it and wouldn't have known how meaningful it would be to my life until now. It is the story of how a white surgen, Dr. Alfred Blalock and a black lab tech, Vivien Thomas, came up with with the Blalock-Taussig shunt, which was the first heart surgery done ever and the fix for "blue babies," babies with tetralogy of fallot. The story at its core is amazing the relationship btw these two very different men, a surgen and a high school grad not to mention the race difference in 1944, they had been working together since the 30s on other procedures. On November 29, 1944, Drs. Blalock and Taussig decided to proceed with the anastomosis, or joining, of the subclavian artery to the pulmonary artery in a cyanotic child.
Dr. Helen Taussig was convinced that the operation would help the patient,and despite the technical problems of operating on a very small and very ill child, Dr. Alfred Blalock's skill was equal to the task. Blalock worked with his surgical team and his invaluable assistant Vivien T. Thomas, who stood behind Blalock and offered a number of helpful suggestions in regard to the technique employed.
The tiny child who had been at such great risk survived the operation and slowly improved. Over the succeeding days she gradually became less blue. By the end of the second postoperative week it was clear she would recover.

Kara Update

Kara went to the cardiologist today and her O2 pulse stats peaked at 93 with and avg. of 91. So last week was low because of her little cold. So no medecine for her, yet. We will go back on Oct. 5th. Aidan's first Soccer Practice

Aidan started soccer practice this past week. He really did well Tuesday and seemed to love playing it. Thursday was a little harder because he has such a long day on Thursdays. He has school, ocupational therapy, speech therapy, then soccer practice. Plus we have to do homework and eat dinner before soccer because he doesn't get home until 6:30. I think he will adjust though, all kids do. He has his first game next Thursday, so I am anxious to see how that goes.

Kara Update

Kara's O2 pulse stats have dropped a little this week to 82-86 so we will be going back next week to the cardiologist to check on them again. She may need to get on medication, but we won't know for sure until then. Her weight gain is still really great though!
